Nordic Walking is walking with two specially designed poles and can only be learned properly with the help and support of a qualified Nordic Walking Instructor.  It enables you to distribute the 'workload' of walking through more muscles whilst you walk, improves posture and helps open up the chest and shoulders, countering the problems of desk work or prolonged sitting.  It also helps with ideas, problem solving & creativity by improving blood flow to the creative part of the brain.

It can aid recovery from surgery or injury before recommencing another sporting activity or be used in its own right to improve health and fitness for everyone, including those with long-term or age-related health conditions.

You can also have a guided Nordic Walking tour, combining Nordic Walking and discovering the great industrial heritage and tourist sites of the Bridgewater Canal in Salford.  Such tours can be combined with learning to Nordic Walk and you can bring your own poles or borrow some.
